Jean Childress

Jean Childress, 76, of Moulton passed away Friday, June 5, 2020 at North Alabama Medical Center. Visitation will be from 12 till 2 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Hugh Bolin officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Town Creek.

A member of First Baptist Church of Town Creek, Jean enjoyed reading, gardening, watching hummingbirds and her show, “The Young and the Restless”.

Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Childress (Otis Young); grandchildren, Kelsie Minor (Nick), James Minor (Summer); brother, Merrill Simpson (Patsy); sisters, Sandra Vess (Harold), Diane Hardeson, Linda Tidwell (Jerry), and Sharron Rittenberry (John); sisters-in-law, Sandra Childress (Web) and Marvinell Lemmond (Bud).

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, William “Horse” Childress; son, Brian Childress; granddaughter, Chelsie Minor; parents, Otis and Zoria Simpson; brothers, Leander Simpson, Charles Simpson, and Ellis Ray Simpson; and sisters, Reba Mitchell, and Shelby Jean Simpson.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Bain, Ronnie Flannigan, Logan Flannigan, Nick Auen, Eric Simpson, and Derrick Simpson. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Simpson, Kevin Simpson, Stevie Simpson, Anthony Simpson, and Gerald Simpson.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Don Beach and nurse Jennifer, Lawrence Medical Center and the North Alabama Medical Center for their love and care.
