Betty Kerby

April 16, 1934 — December 16, 2024

Betty Sue Kerby, 90, of Town Creek, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 at her home. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Brandon Kerby officiating. A private burial will follow at Sanderson Cemetery.

Born on April 16, 1934 to the late Floyd and Flossie Whitehead Smith, Betty graduated from Mt. Hope High School and was a member of Sanderson Chapel Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts.

Survivors include her son, Danny (Lesa) Kerby; grandchildren, Chasity (Brian) Compton, Jarrod (Martha) Kerby, and Brandon (Leslie) Kerby; great-grandchildren, Gabe Compton, Addison "Addie" Compton, Noah Compton, Cody Kerby, Josey Kerby, and Harper Kerby; sisters, Elaine (Joe) Perkins, and Dorothy (Benny) Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Kerby; parents; brothers, Floyd A. Smith, Jr., Kenneth Smith, Benny Smith, Billy Smith, and Aaron Smith; and sisters, Helen Sherrod, and Gail Smith.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Amedisys Hospice and Dr. Gillespie for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
