Donald Blankenship, 82, of Town Creek, Alabama passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will be at Old Liberty cemetery in the Loosier Community.
Born on October 4, 1940 to Ensley and Carrie Warren Blankenship, Donald enjoyed cattle farming and had a passion for antique farming equipment. He was a member of the Alabama National Guard. While in his youth, Donald loved hot rod cars and motor cycles. He had a love for the outdoors and living the farm life. He never turned down a good meal. Donald was a very sentimental person. He was a very kind and soft spoken person. Donald had multiple occupations throughout his life. He worked for Monsanto Chemical, Maintenance for the Board of Education, and owned his own roofing business for many years until he found his passion for cattle farming.
Survivors include his children, Paula (Donnie) Eskridge, Steven (Melanie) Blankenship; grandchildren, Ty (Cassidy) Blankenship, Brody Rains, Bo Blankenship; great-grandchildren, Navy Blankenship, Branson Woods, Piper Woods; sisters, Charlene (Alvin) Terry, Jewel Key, Carolyn (Richard) Tatum, Vonda (Alvin) Patrick; brothers, Densie (Elaine) Blankenship; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Blankenship; father, Ensley Blankenship; mother, Carrie Blankenship; brothers, Neal and Barney Blankenship; sisters, Barbara Terry and Christy Blackwood. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
