Geraldine Norton

Geraldine Norton, 84, of Town Creek passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 17 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Tim Smith and Ray McWhorter officiating. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.  The family requests that all attendees please wear a mask. Masks will be provided if needed.

Born on February 1, 1937 to the late Grady and Lillie Mae Butler, Geraldine was a member of Sanderson Chapel United Methodist Church. She was employed by Lawrence County Public Transportation for over 20 years and volunteered at Helping Hands Ministry and the Hatton Senior Center.

Survivors include her children, Benjy Norton (Laura), Benna Gillespie (Flint), Keith Norton (Beth); nine grandchildren, Jackie Griner, Wesley Norton (Sue), Hannah Hallmark (Tim), Patrick Norton, Dave Gillespie (Lillie), Caleb Norton (Stephanie), Natalie Norton, Collin Willis (Ashton), and Kellee Willis; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Lowery (Hylman); brother, Mike Butler (Lucy); and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Norton; her parents; sister, Lorene Howard.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and friends.

The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home.
