Hal Brooks

Hal Gene Brooks, 83, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Monday, May 8, 2023, at NHC of Moulton. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The graveside service will be at 3:30 PM on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Red Hill Cemetery with John Priola and Gordon Appleton officiating. Burial will be at Red Hill cemetery in Moulton, AL.

Born on July 12, 1939, to Solon and Mable Minor Brooks, Hal Gene was a member of Fairfield Church of Christ. He was the "number 1 oiler at International Papers". Working was Hal Gene's favorite thing to do, from growing tomatoes and oiling machinery at IP. Hal Gene enjoyed listening to the Red Hill Blues Band, socializing with his friends at Hardees, and the Coffee Shop.

Survivors include his two children, Greg Brooks (Lisa) of Pensacola, FL and Greta Bearden (Danny) of Moulton; step-children, Rodney Ledlow, Randall Ledlow, Regina Ledlow; grandchildren, Taylor Christian (Kaleb) of Moulton, Michael Brooks of Bend, OR, Garrett Johnson (Casey) of Saxapahaw, NC, and Maggie Bearden of Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Samuel Christian and Woody Johnson; and friends and extended family.

Hal was preceded in death by his father, Solon Brooks; mother, Mable Brooks; spouse, Doyce Brooks; spouse, Jeanette Brooks; step-son, Robby Ledlow.

Pallbearers will be Garrett Johnson, David McCullough, Donald Moats, Kelley Christian, Chris Appleton, Rodney Ledlow, and Randall Ledlow.

Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Brooks, Jerry Waits, Samuel Christian, and Woody Johnson.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice of the Valley, nurse Autumn Cross, Dr. Rex Tuckier, all the nursing and CNA staff at NHC, and especially Angelia Rogers, Betty Kelso, Chrystal Terry, and Angela Johnson.
