Helen Cornelius

Helen Elizabeth Crittenden Cornelius, 90, of Crosby, TX, formerly of Town Creek passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at her home in Crosby. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm till 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Derwin Youngblood officiating. Burial will be in Shaw in Cemetery in Leighton AL. A celebration of life will be held at The Barn in Town Creek immediately following the burial.

Born on October 9, 1931 to the late Thomas H. Crittenden and Bessie A. Scott, Helen was one of 20 children. She enjoyed working puzzles, spending time with her family and will be remembered as a very gracious and giving woman.

Survivors include her children, Nancy Roane (Dale), Eva Yeiser (Scott), Buddy Cornelius, Emily Heishman (Ken), and Dell Greenwood; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Helen was the last of Thomas’ and Bessie’s children and was also preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge “Bill” Cornelius; sons, James T. Cornelius, Donald Cornelius, and Bryant Cornelius; daughter, Ida Cornelius; and her stepmother, Anna Lou Crittenden Baker.

Pallbearers will be Justin A. E. Chavera, Joshua Cornelius, Christopher Martin, Casey Carroll, Christopher Westbrook, and Jeffery Alexander. Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Hattenstein, Justin R. Chavera, Tadd Arnold, Noah Berryman, and Mike Fennell.

The family extends special thanks to NHC Rehabilitation in Moulton, Encompass Hospice of Texas, and Derwin Youngblood and Tammy Arnold for all of their care and support.
