Hershel Henson

Hershel Ray Henson, 75, of Moulton passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at his residence. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel with Waymon Ashley officiating. There will be a private Family Graveside Service at Moulton Memory Gardens.

Born on June 8, 1945 to the late Oxford and Annie Sue Henson, Hershel was a member of Pleasant Ridge Holy Church of Christ. He had a lifelong love and was a supporter of Southern Gospel music. He loved traveling and singing and meeting people. Hershel loved his church family at Pleasant Ridge as well as horses and animals, especially his dog, Lucky, and cat, Little Bitty.

Survivors include his children, Melissa Montgomery (Mark), Ray Henson (Kim), and Denise Henson; their mother, Shirley Henson; grandchildren, Amy McLemore (Martin), John Montgomery (Breanna), Brandon Henson, Allyson Summerford (Robert), and Lindsey Blanton; great-grandchildren, Anna-Mark, Mallie, Isla, Cayden, Barkley, Talley Colt Thomas, and Stetson; and longtime special friend and singing partner, Kristy Waugh.

Hershel was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Waymon Henson and Larry Henson.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Henson, John Montgomery, Martin McLemore, Robert Summerford, and Tony Myers. Honorary pallbearer is Doug Reed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local animal shelter in memory of Hershel.
