James Joel “J.D.” Dutton, 73, of Mt. Hope passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 at his residence. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at New Beginnings Church with Paul Wilcoxson and Trevor Hallmark officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Old Town Creek Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Dotson.
Joel was born June 13, 1948 to the late Clyde and Marie Dutton. He married the love of his life JoAnn fifty three years ago. He was a Vietnam Veteran and Deacon of New Beginnings Church. He was a business man who could sell anything and loved intriguing conversations. He and his wife, JoAnn were general store merchants that served their community for over forty years. As an avid deer and turkey hunter, he would always be willing to take a smoke break for a good tale. He had a passion for playing music and singing praise and worship. Joel loved his family and his zest for life will live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Dutton; two daughters, Michelle Frost (Keith) and Melanie Wilcoxson (Paul); eight grandchildren, Kirk Sparks (Haley), Tiffany Hallmark (Trevor), Erika Little (Martin), Jaben Wilcoxson, Joah Wilcoxson, Joby Wilcoxson, Hunter Frost (Jessica) and Hannah Long (Kris); ten great-grandchildren, Ryder, Stetson, Tilton, Case, Ripken, Briggs, Harper, Haizlee, Luke and Caden; three sisters, Mary Lee Cameron, Martha Michael and Faye Fortich (Bob); and two brothers, Jake Dutton (Connie) and Billy Dutton (Shelby); and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Joel Dutton Jr.; his parents; and three brothers; Johnny Dutton, Bob Dutton and Boyd Dutton.
Pallbearers will be Kirk Sparks, Joah Wilcoxson, Joby Wilcoxson, Martin Little, Nathaniel Little, Runt Little, Hollis McCay, Raymond Brewer and Joe Dutton.
