Steve Finchum

James Steven Finchum, 75, of Decatur, Alabama passed away Friday, November 29, 2024 at his home. A graveside service will be on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Decatur City Cemetery with Bro. Lavanul Sherrill officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Born on June 26, 1949 to the late A J Finchum and Virginia Lucille Pylant, Steve loved music, the outdoors, the Atlanta Braves, and Alabama football. ROLL TIDE! Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Debbie Finchum; children, Amanda (Chad) Sheppard, Daniel (Shirley) Finchum, Beth Chandler, and Renee (Darlene) Hughes; grandchildren, James Finchum, Brandon Carlisle, Jessica (Justin) Parker, Garth (Chelsea) Greene, Michael Horton, Daija Milam, Brianna Lewis, Kayla Lewis, Madelyn Sheppard, Carly Sheppard, Zoey Finchum, and Adelynn Finchum; his Beloved Dog Marley; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Whittaker; and son, James Finchum.

Pallbearers will be Garth Greene, Michael Horton, Justin Parker, Trent Purser, Dewayne Sherrill, and Ray Allen.
