James Letson

James Windell Letson, 76, of Moulton passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at his residence. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the funeral home with his brother, Archie Letson. Burial will be in Sparks Cemetery, Hillsboro, Alabama.

Windell was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He truly loved his children and grandchildren. He loved having a garden and planting flowers. In his early years he loved farming, riding horses and fishing. His brothers always called him “Crook”. In his later years he loved rocking on his porch, playing with his grandchildren and his dog. He loved going to church with his brother, Archie, and having him as his pastor. He like to read his Bible and argue with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters; Melanda Letson, Paula Turner (Jimmy), Jennifer Letson and Casey Letson, one son; James Windell Letson Jr. “Bozo””, three brothers; Jody Letson, Archie Letson and David Letson, one sister; Anita Watkins, eleven grandchildren; Christy Melson, Seth Holloway, Zach Turner, Tony Wallace, Haley Letson, Jimmy Letson, Brilee Turner, Holly Stricklin, Hank Letson, Brenda Sparks and Amber Melson, seven great grandchildren; Natalie Holloway, Blake Wallace, Austin Melson, Montana Terry, Rylan Letson, Layla Letson and Zoey Letson.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Carolyn Terry Letson, his parents; James Wesley and Lenos Smith Letson, and his daughter; Wendy Holloway, his infant daughter and son, three brothers; Sam Letson, Milton Letson and Jimmy Letson, and two sisters; Sybil Naylor and Tillie Shelton.

Pallbearers will be Zach Turner, Seth Holloway, Jimmy Letson, Josh Letson, Austin Melson, Jimmy Turner, Steve Melson and Chris Stricklin.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice of the North Alabama.
