James "Gus" Smith

James "Gus" Ray Smith, 72, of Town Creek passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at his residence. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Tim Smith officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.


Born on September 1, 1951, to Huey and Catherine Mayes Smith, Gus enjoyed hunting with his friends and family.


Survivors include his two children, Sonya (Daniel "Dobob") Williams and Jason "Bo" (Christie) Smith; grandchildren, Morgan Smith, Massie Smith, Ambrea Smith, Payton Williams, Savanna Williams, Harlie Smith, and Colt Smith; great-grandchildren, Gracelyn Smith, Addisyn Smith, Chanel Smith, Channing Smith, Kain Smith, Hunter Sickles, Holden Sickles and Moxston Williams; two sisters, Wanda Smith and Martha Knight; two brothers, Ike (Shelly) Stanley and Jerry "Jabbo" Smith; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.


James was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Smith; daughter, Kimberly Calvin; parents, Huey and Jenny Smith; four brothers, Ronnie Smith, Micheal Smith, Tommy Smith, and Hershel Smith; and one sister, Patsy Green.


Pallbearers will be family and friends.
