Jewel Newton

Jewel Lee Newton, 88, of Town Creek, Alabama passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at Riverside Senior Living in Decatur, AL. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Terry Settles officiating. Burial will be at Providence Cemetery in Town Creek.

Born on August 28, 1936, to Travis Clyde and Mildred Lowery Berryman. Jewel was a member of Okolona Baptist Church, member of the Eastern Star, and a hairdresser for almost 50 years.

Survivors include her two sons, Vance (Carmellia) Newton and Tyron Newton; two grandchildren, Austin Will (Anna) Newton and Mallory Grace Newton; one great-grandchild, Caroline Anne Newton; sister-in-law, Doris Terry; two sisters, Deborah (Jimmy) Davis and Nancy (Ronnie) Blankenship; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Jewel was preceded in death by her spouse, Willard A. Newton; and parents, Travis Clyde and Mildred Lowery Berryman.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family extends special thanks to the staff of Riverside Senior Living, Hospice of the Valley, Erin Sprinkle, and Tammy Bogle for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Providence Church Cemetery Fund.
