Lewis Howard Anderton, 93, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Cave Springs Freewill Baptist Church with Jerry Strickland and Phil Kimbrough officiating. Mr. Anderton will lie in state at the church from 1 till 2 p.m. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis was a wonderful Christian husband and daddy who farmed most of his life. He was retired from Automatic Screw Machine Products in Decatur. He also served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Song Leader at Cave Springs Freewill Baptist Church, a church he loved with all his heart.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Mae Anderton; daughters, Linda (Vernon) Hood of Trinity and Wilda (Phillip) Jeffreys of Town Creek; stepdaughter, Wylene Bayari of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, seven step great-great grandchildren; and brother, James Alton (Jewel) Anderton of Town Creek.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years and mother of his children, Lillie Mae Borden Anderton; parents, Preston and Ida Gargis Anderton; son, Jewel William Anderton; stepson, Ronald Terry; sisters, Lillian Anderton and Lillie Jane Anderton Borden; and brothers, Austin Anderton and Lester Anderton
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
