Sherman Wayne Anderton, 81 years old of Moulton passed from this life Friday, October 7, 2016 at UAB in Birmingham. Visitation will be Sunday, October 9, 2016, 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Moulton Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 4:00 PM at the Church with Jesse Reeder officiating. There will be a Masonic Graveside Service following at Moulton Memory Gardens. Lawrence Funeral Home Directing.
Mr. Anderton was a member of Moulton Baptist Church, a 50 year member of the Hatton Masonic Lodge, he served in the Alabama National Guard, Wayne worked in Banking for 26 years, was elected County Commissioner for the term 1994-1998, was elected and served on the Joe Wheeler EMC Board for 15 years and retired as the owner of Town Creek Carpet.
Mr. Anderton is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Martin Anderton and Etta Canups Anderton.
He is survived by his wife: Bobbie Moore Anderton, Moulton, two sons: Sherman Wayne Anderton Jr. and Gene Anderton and his wife Cindy of Decatur, one brother: Carol Anderton, Town Creek, two sisters: Sadie Terry, Moulton and Jo Hawkins, Lake Martin, three grandchildren: Meagan McDonald and her husband Todd, Matthew Anderton and his wife, Katie and Mindi Stowe and her husband, Jeremy and five great grandchildren: Stella Blue McDonald, Sage McDonald, Weston Anderton, Wesley Stowe and Carter Stowe.
Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be The Joe Wheeler Board of Directors, City Hall Coffee Drinkers and Grace Sunday School Class.
