Thomas E. Perry, 80, of Mount Hope passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at North Alabama Medical Center. Visitation will be from 12 till 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Greg Pace and Rev. Jerry Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Athens.
Born on May 22, 1940 to the late Birdus Edward Perry and Carrie Mae Carwile Jewell, Thomas served the Lawrence County area as a police officer for 14 years. He loved his family, his church, and singing Gospel music, along with playing his guitar.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Maria Teresa Naque Sanipa Perry; children, Joyce Prestridge (Ron), Wade Perry, Tommy Perry (Lisa), Joshua Perry, and Bethany Perry; grandchildren, Chasity Sparks, Candice Brown, Tawanna Brooks, Brittney Perry, Justin Perry, Carrie Hutchinson, and Joseph Perry; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Justin Perry, Joseph Perry, Tyler Hutchinson, Joshua Perry, Tommy Perry, and Wade Perry.
