Vacel Lennear Sutton, 79, of Moulton passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at his farm attending to his cattle. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 p.m. on Monday, January 22,2018 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the funeral home with Bro. James Wallace and Bro. Toney Pepper officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Fergason Cemetery.

Vacel attended Hatton High School and retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service during the Vietnam War and Cuban Missile Crisis. He was an active member of Harris Chapel Church of God of Prophecy where he loved to help care for the church grounds and update the church welcome sign. Vacel attended the Men’s Fellowship Breakfast most every Saturday and he loved to help serve in the kitchen at Camp Booth and pass out groceries at “Helping Hands”. He was always ready to help whenever he was called on. Vacel attended all of the grandchildren’s activities and was their special “Poppy”.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Crull Sutton; daughters, Terry (Harlan) Jones and Sherry (Tony) Gibson; grandchildren, Phillip (Whitney) Jones, Matthew Jones, Bayley Turrentine, Mary Catherine Jones, Anthony Gibson and Eric (Ashley) Gibson; great-grandchildren, Carter Gibson and Callie Gibson; siblings, Christine (Curtis) Parker, Ted (Elizabeth) Sutton, Junior (Lanae) Sutton, Curtis (Joyce) Sutton, Joyce (Roger) Johns, Carolyn (Rice) Towry and Guy (Patricia) Sutton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron “Lennear”Sutton and Lucy Cole Sutton; and brothers, Earl Sutton, Fred Sutton, and Grover Sutton.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Jones, Matthew Jones, Anthony Gibson, Eric Gibson, Marshall Gower and Darrell “Pug” Johns.
