Vera Steadmon

Vera Nell Rutherford Steadmon, 90, of Moulton passed away Friday, June 28, 2019, at her home. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 at the funeral home with Ben Phillips and Chris Miller officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery.

A member of Hatton Church of Christ, Vera Nell graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1947. She loved to sew, cook and work in her flower garden. Her strong work ethic was instilled in her family whom she loved very much.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Steadmon (Phil Savage); granddaughter, Brandy Masterson Mardis (Terry Joe); great-grandsons, Austin and Dylan Mardis; and sisters, Betty McLemore (Amon) and Doris “Polly” LouAllen.

Vera Nell was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Steadmon; parents, Bass and Essie Rutherford; two brothers, three sisters and step-grandson, Tyler Savage.

Pallbearers will be Ashley Allen, Roger Engle, Marlon Rutherford, Ricky Knouff, Gary Terry and Gary Steadman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research, Hatton Church of Christ Mission Fund, or a favorite charity in memory of Vera Nell.
